Position Overview
Novelis Oswego has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Technician! The primary focus of this position is maintenance, service and repair of facilities and equipment. Successful Mechanical Technicians are fast learners and self-motivated, independent workers. They will have the ability to work under pressure and the willingness to work in varying conditions. Mechanical Technicians receive training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities
• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain machines and the plant facility’s equipment• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
Qualifications
- 2 Year Mechanical Tech Degree or 5 years’ experience
- Medical Clearance for use of Fall Protection Harness (Weight restrictions related to equipment limitations may apply)
- Machine repair and troubleshooting
- Hand tools & measuring instruments
- Welding
- Experience with pipe fitting, centrifugal pipe repair, rigging & lifting, rotating equipment, industrial hydraulic power, bearings, industrial lubrication, and statistical process control
Preferred Qualifications
• Manufacturing experience
